Welcome to Gray Oaks Homemade

Oh, hey there, friends!

My name is Meghan, and welcome to Gray Oaks Homemade—my humble little baking business and blog where I sell freshly baked bread and sweets as well as share all things food, home and family.

A little bit about me…

I taught first grade for 13 years before making the decision to stay home as our family grew. For years I have daydreamed about how to build a home-based business to contribute financially to our family while pursuing the joy and fulfillment I get from sharing delicious food with people and bringing beauty to our home and table.

Sourdough baker…

My sourdough journey began just over a year ago, with starter gifted from my buy nothing group. I was quickly enamored with how I could use only flour, water, salt, and time, to create bread the way it was meant to be made – transforming simple ingredients into something that is both beautiful and nourishing without all of the preservatives found at the grocery store. Baking my own bread this way was absolutely addicting; the process, the smell of it baking, the joy of slathering a warm slice with butter, and always having home made bread on hand to compliment our meals. I quickly got to a point where I wanted to bake more than we can eat and started gifting loaves to friends and family just to be able to bake more. I began to wonder if this was my first step towards that daydream of sharing my love of food and home…could I sell my bread? I was so nervous to throw it out into the world, but finally got up the courage and dipped my toes in. I have been amazed and deeply touched by the response and could not be happier to be offering real, home baked, and scratch-made foods to my community.

Homemaker…

Call me crazy, but I always get a bee in my bonnet when I’m filling out any sort of form that asks if I am employed. Why? Because technically, as a homemaker, no, no I am not. In actuality though, I am doing a whole host of jobs in order to manage our home and family efficiently, effectively, with attention to detail, and lots of love. Homemaking is truly my passion and I have (and continue to!) learn so much along the way that I just can’t wait to share with the GOHomemade community. Whether you share my joy in homemaking or want to find some hacks that may help you enjoy it more—I hope that you will find it here.

With my background as a teacher, my natural instincts towards order and organization, an eye for design and decor, and my experience as a home cook learning to feed my family day in and day out, I have so much to share about all the things!

Thank you for being here,
Meghan

FAQs

Can I place an order outside of the pre-order schedule?

Yes! I am trying to streamline my baking as much as possible and know that most people would like to have their orders going into the weekend. However, if you have a special occasion or need to place an order for another day please contact me to make arrangements.

Can I mix and match bagels and cookies?

Yes! Cookies can be mixed and matched, for example you may order 2 chocolate chip and 2 smore’s in your 4/$15 package.

Bagels may also be mixed and matched. However, I do require a 3 bagel minimum for each flavor. So, if you order 6 bagels, you may select up to 2 flavors. If you order 12 bagels, you may select up to 4 flavors.

If you’d like to mix and match your bagels and/or cookies, please include your desired specifics in the comments section at the end of the order form!

Do you take special orders for items not on the menu?

I do! If you have something special in mind, please contact me to chat and see if I can accommodate your needs.

Where and how to I pick up my order?

When you receive your order confirmation my address will be included. All orders placed during regular pre-order period will be ready to pick up on my front porch starting at 4pm on Fridays. You can come anytime between 4-7pm to pick up your order. Look for your name on the bag(s) and be sure to either drop cash in the box or scan and Venmo, please.
